Did you know that moving is the third most stressful event in your life? However, moving doesn’t have to be this stressful – there are a multitude of ways to make moving a lot easier to handle. In the end, even if you have to spend a little extra money for the convenience, you want to do whatever it takes to lower the stress. When it comes to moving, you also want it to go by quickly, so that you can move in to your new residence and try to get back to normal life. Here are five ways to make moving hassle-free.

  1. Label all your boxes. This is one of the simplest ways to make moving less stressful. By labeling all the boxes – living room, bedroom, kitchen, etc. – you will be able to find everything a lot easier when you are in your new home or apartment. It is also recommended to move those labeled boxes to their designated rooms, so that you don’t have to deal with moving stuff to individual rooms later on.
  2. Start the moving process right away. If you have to move for work or for any other reason, you want to start packing and boxing the moment you decide that you want to move. The further in advance you start the moving process, the quicker it will go by, because you can slowly pace yourself. Eventually – when the big day finally comes – you will have everything pretty much ready to go. So, make sure to start making lists. You may even want to start throwing old things away – just to limit some of the junk and clutter.
  3. Hire movers. All you have to do is search “movers Worcester MA” or “movers Buffalo NY” and you will get a number of results. What you want to do is look at peer review reviews made by other customers. If the reviews are generally positive, you can probably hire that company. Hiring movers will significantly reduce your stress levels during a move.
  4. Remain flexible. There is a good chance that you will think it’ll only take a few hours to move all the items out of your apartment or home, but the truth is that it may take all day – maybe even two days. Moving is a big deal and you have to be prepared for anything. For instance, what happens if all your stuff doesn’t fit in your car? What happens if you need to make multiple trips? Just take a deep breath and go with the flow and you should be fine.
  5. Hit the spa. After a stressful move, you want to take it easy. So, you should treat yourself to a day of rest and relaxation. Whether you get a massage or simply luxuriate in the hot tubs – you want to let all the kinks out. Another way to alleviate the stress is to take a bath. In the end, you could also light some candles and pour some wine, because after a big move, you certainly deserve it.
